The Lisa Marr Experiment • American Jitters

It's been four years since the release of our debut album, 4 AM. American Jitters is the outcome of lives unfolding, intersecting, wandering off in all directions and barrelling down the highway at full throttle. There were weddings and house warmings and births; firings and hirings and funerals. We trusted. We got burned. We went away and we came home again rejuvenated, heads full of pretty pictures and innumerable plans for pie in the sky projects. We fell in love. We got together. We broke up. We fell in love. There was sorrow, euphoria, chaos, quiet time, and rip-roaring fights.

We present you with 16 little gifts at the crossroads of the wakeful and the dreaming. The pieces that make up the whole are not forced, calculated or contrived to fit a musical mold and this is apparently an unforgivable thing in today's music biz. The so-called alt-country labels shook their heads: "It's a wee bit of a hair too much on the pop side for us," they said. The so-called indie-pop labels shook their heads: "It's rather somewhat too country for our audience," they said. What could we do? The songs knocked at the door and we invited them in. As we got to know them, we found them to be pretty good company. We asked them to stick around for awhile. We hope you do the same.

How can the world be so beautiful and yet so troubled? When will the truth be revealed? Why am I so nervous all the time? Where did we go wrong? Who holds the key to happiness? Am I the crazy one? Why are we so powerless? Where is home? What is waiting on the other side? Do I control my own destiny? Must every great love end in disillusion and despair?

The answers to these questions and many more may be found on American Jitters, the new album from The Lisa Marr Experiment. Following up their critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing debut, 4 AM, The LMX is back with an unflinching look at the pocketful of sorrow that is modern existence.

American Jitters: sixteen songs of true heartache, heartbreak, revenge and resurrection produced by Martin Beal with David Carswell and John Collins of JC/DC Studios (New Pornographers, Tegan and Sara).

This is American folk music for the twenty-first century, brought to you by the fine folks at Sympathy for the Record Industry.
